Privacy Policy

Our Approach to Your Privacy

SolveHog exists to help you get through self-paced Sophia Learning courses, and doing that well means being straight with you about the information involved. This policy explains, in ordinary language, what we collect when you use our website and browser extension (the "Services"), what we do with it, and the control you keep over it. By using the Services you are agreeing to the practices set out below. We have tried to keep this short and readable rather than burying the important parts, and we would rather you understood it than skimmed past it.

The Information We Gather

To run the Services we need to hold a certain amount of information about you and your account. Some of it you give us directly, such as the name and email address you register with, the login details that secure your account, and the payment information required when you buy a subscription. Some of it is created as you use the extension: identifiers that link your session to your subscription, the tokens that keep you signed in, and a record of when your account has been accessed so that we can keep it secure.

We also see a modest amount of technical and usage information that helps the extension function and helps us improve it. That includes which features you interact with and how often, how long a session lasts, and details about the browser, device, and network connection you are using, such as an IP address and general location, along with logs that record errors when something goes wrong. We collect this so the Services work reliably and so we can spot problems, not to build a detailed picture of you as an individual.

Why We Use It

Everything we collect goes toward operating and improving SolveHog. Concretely, we use your information to confirm who you are and let you into your account, to deliver and maintain the extension's answer suggestions, to handle payments and manage your subscription, to watch for fraud or unauthorized access, and to understand where the product can work better. We may also use your contact details to reach you about your account or to provide support when you ask for it. We do not use your information for purposes you would find surprising, and we do not sell it.

Who Sees It, and Who Does Not

We do not sell or trade your personal information, and we share it only in a few limited situations. The first is with the service providers who make SolveHog run at all, such as the companies that process our payments, host our systems, or help us understand aggregate usage; they act on our behalf, are bound to protect what they handle, and may not use it for their own ends. The second is where the law requires it, for instance in response to a valid legal demand, or where sharing is genuinely necessary to protect our rights or someone's safety. The third is if SolveHog is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case your information could move with the business, and we would let you know if that happened.

There is one place your information deliberately does not go. We never share what we collect with Sophia Learning, with any college or university, or with any other learning platform. Your use of SolveHog stays between you and us, and no report of your activity is passed back to the institution running your course.

Keeping It Secure and How Long We Keep It

We hold on to your information only for as long as it is needed to run the Services, meet our legal obligations, or until you ask us to remove it. While we have it, we protect it with measures such as encryption of sensitive data, controlled access to our systems, session safeguards like automatic logout, and routine review of our defenses. That said, no method of sending or storing data over the internet can ever be guaranteed completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute protection. You play a part here too: choosing a strong password and keeping your login details to yourself goes a long way toward keeping your account safe.

Your Choices

You have real control over the information we hold. You can ask to see the personal data we keep about you, to correct anything that is wrong, or to have it deleted where we are not legally required to retain it. You can also ask for a copy of your data, object to certain uses, or opt out of any marketing messages. To do any of this, or to ask a question about your privacy, email us at [email protected] and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Children

SolveHog is made for college and high-school students and is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone in that age group. If we learn that we have gathered data from a child under 13 without proper consent, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us information, please tell us at [email protected] so we can put it right.

Changes to This Policy

As our practices, technology, or legal obligations evolve, we may revise this policy. When we do, the new version takes effect once it is posted here, and where the change is significant we will make an effort to flag it, whether through the extension, by email, or with a notice on the site. The "Last Updated" date at the top always reflects the latest revision, and continuing to use the Services after a change means you accept the updated terms.
